Side mounted davits, or “snap davits”, have many advantages. The dinghy is securely fastened to the swim grid upon lowering into the water allowing for a safer on-boarding, especially in rough water or times of emergency. The dinghy doesn’t fill with rain water. But installing and removing the outboard from the dinghy for storage is a pain, sometimes problematic and even dangerous.
Our hinged saddle hoist allows the outboard to be left attached to the dinghy during raising, lowering and storage.
